All year, I have yearned for both clarity and security.
If you follow me on Facebook, undoubtedly you've seen that Kent had found work.
December 31, Kent and I discussed ME getting another job. I already have a full time job, but we talked about working evening and weekends.
So, (a little begrudgingly) I began to look for work. I have always maintained that I would be willing to do whatever it took in life, and a second job looked like "whatever it takes."
I humbled myself and began to look. I put an ad on craigslist.com and usedvictoria.com under the jobs title...printed of resumes, handed them out and made some phone calls and waited. My ad on craigslist had 1600+ hits in 2 days. My calls put me on casual lists around town. And a phone call surfaced. 2 to be exact.
Kent talked to the owner of BlackApple Cellular and then began working fixing IPhones.
I began talking to a Neurologist that needed an MOA STAT.
Both being willing to do what would be unheard of--we set out to do whatever it took.
I helped find the Neurologist a full time, (day time) MOA and worked myself out of the only possible job that had come my way in 2 weeks.
Kent, helped the poor hapless people of Victoria with their IPhones.....I'm never owning an IPhone...
As we settled into this for almost 2 weeks, which for us was difficult. We didn't see much of eath other. Then, Kent got a call from the Ministry of Natural Resources....or as close to that as we can figure...they have several names.
He went in for a 2+hour interview. First a 45 minute exam followed by a panel interview. He must've aced it, because he is now working at the Ministry as a Radio Communications Technologist with Lands Natural Resources Operations (FLNRO), CSNR Radio Communication Division...quite the mouthful. He starts February 2.
When the Ministry put out the email announcing the hiring of Kent--they stated that he was from Starfish Medical (Vivitro Labs) and Latitude Technologies. It suddenly hit me. It may have been the way Tina worded the email. It may have been some clarity that I have been craving.
It seemed like A+B=C.
A) We moved here to take up the job at Starfish Medical (Vivitro Labs). Kent worked there for 15 months then Kent lost his job.
B) Kent was out of work for a month when he was hired at Latitude. He worked there for 11 months, when he lost his job. When he got the job at Latitude, we talked about how, he would've never left Starfish for the job posting in Latitude.
C) He was hired at the ministry BASED on his link with Starfish and Latitude.
Latitude is equally happy to have a friend to the Ministry.
So, suddenly it hit me. We had to go through the past 3 years to get to the point where Kent was set up to work where he is.
Sometimes we look for years for the why in what we walk through, other times it's clear. I have to say, the past 3 years were rough -- very difficult, but each time we reach the end of a rough spot, we have this amazing CLARITY.
I stand amazed and I love the fact that I can say, my mantra for 2012 was God is good. He is really, really good to us. It seems it will be my mantra for 2015 as well.
