Nesting and other waiting related disorders.....

Nesting and other waiting related disorders.....

The last couple weeks I haven't been doing really well.  I mean, I am holding it all together, but I feel like I am running out of time before my next surgery. That means that I get a little hyper...maybe even a little frenetic.

I also feel like I am nesting.  I'm cleaning out things and cleaning up things every time I have a spare couple of minutes.  Here's BlackBerry lending me a hand cleaning out my sweaters.

I rearranged the pantry, because we tore out a couple walls downstairs....(while we wait for the electrical inspection on the office. we thought we should keep moving on the renovation.)

In rearranging the pantry into the kitchen--I ended up cleaning out the kitchen....

I think I may be nesting.  Actually, I'm probably nesting.

I've decided this is getting too exhausting, so when I get the "urge" to clean and organize madly I'm going to do this:  Fold a fitted sheet and call it a day. #adulting #winning

I believe the sky was made for me to touch

Spring has Sprung!  Biking to work has begun!  Even with a flat tire TWICE on this commute home it was still WAY better than taking the bus!

There were cars as far as the eye could see!  It took me 35 minutes to get from QA to the swing bridge, even after fixing my tire twice.

Then, home we packed up and headed to the ferry.  We were off to Vancouver for the weekend!

First, we had to have a free way off the island.  We had secured free rides on the Helijet, but due to the weather we had to make alternate plans.  So back onto the bus and we went to the ferry.  As you know, I hate paying to get off this rock, so I used my Save On More - Ferry passes to get to Vancouver.

Kent found a BlackBerry Buddy while we waited for the concert to start.

Not too sure what the buffalo had to do with the concert tour, but he was fabulous.

 Switchfoot and Relient K

Switchfoot

When I got to the concert, I was hoping Relient K would be fun, and it was but there was a song that they did that just hit me. God. I believe the sky was made for me to touch.

God

I believe in night, I believe in day
I believe there's a light coming back around again
I believe you're right, cause I believe there's a way
I believe I might have some catching up to do

Ohhh... the voices are growing strong
Ohhh... the rumblin' of thunder, a rolling drum
Let Your Kingdom come

I believe in God, I believe in God
Ohhh... I believe that I, I believe enough
So help me God
I believe in love, I believe in us
Ohhh... I believe the sky was made for me to touch
I believe the sky was made for me to touch

I believe in peace when it's sweeping over me
I believe in fear when I feel courageous
I believe this life is more than tangible
I believe the sky is going on for ages

Ohhh... the voices are growing strong
Ohhh... the rumblin' of thunder, a rolling drum
Let Your Kingdom come

I believe in God, I believe in God
Ohhh... I believe that I, I believe enough
So help me God
I believe in love, I believe in us
Ohhh... I believe the sky was made for me to touch
Was made for me to touch
I believe the sky was made for me to touch

He came rolling back to sweep me off my feet
I cried to the rain
He came pouring down to drown my disbelief

I believe in God, I believe in God
Ohhh... I believe that I, I do believe enough
So help me God
I believe in love, I believe in us
Ohhh... I believe the sky was made for me to touch

I believe in God, I believe in God
Ohhh... I believe the sky was made for me to touch
Was made for me to touch [3x]

Dump runs and Robbie Burns Poetry

It is finally feeling like spring.  You might think we're nuts, but it seems like this has been a ridiculously long winter.  We spent the first weekend that it was actually nice going to the dump.

I'm not the kind of wife who sends her husband to the dump, this is something we do together.

Kent gave me a shovel and we loaded and then unloaded our trailer ..

Well, I mostly unloaded onto the ground

And then I hit some guys truck with a shovel full....I apologized he was ok with it.

It was a good day, our yard is looking much better!

The end of January we celebrated Robby Burns--complete with Haggis!

I'll finish this post with my favourite Robbie Burns Poem--it's my favourite because my heart is truly in the highlands....no matter where I roam.

My Heart's in the Highlands

Farewell to the Highlands, farewell to the North,
The birth-place of Valour, the country of Worth;
Wherever I wander, wherever I rove,
The hills of the Highlands for ever I love.

My heart's in the Highlands, my heart is not here;
My heart's in the Highlands a-chasing the deer;
A-chasing the wild-deer, and following the roe,
My heart's in the Highlands wherever I go.

Farewell to the mountains high covered with snow;
Farewell to the straths and green valleys below;
Farewell to the forests and wild-hanging woods;
Farewell to the torrents and loud-pouring floods.

My heart's in the Highlands, my heart is not here;
My heart's in the Highlands a-chasing the deer;
A-chasing the wild-deer, and following the roe,
My heart's in the Highlands wherever I go.

Randomness.

On the occasional Friday afternoon at RCB (Research and Capacity Building) one of us employees would purchase a large chocolate bar and then break it up and as we passed through the hallway we'd share it as we go.

A couple weeks ago, sitting in our offices at QA, I decided it was chocolate time.  I took out this bar from my desk (that I got in my stocking at Christmas) and broke it into bits and shared it with my co-workers.  I returned to my desk and saw this:

This has affectionately coined the term "Expired Chocolate Friday".

I'm feeling in limbo right now.  A waiting game.  Waiting on the arrival of March 14 for the surgery.

I'm trying to get my house in order, my job as caught up as humanly possible so that I can pass it off to the Manager who will be covering my position while I'm off for 6 weeks.

6 weeks.

I don't take sick time.  I'm rarely sick.

This is going to be tougher than I think, being immobile.  Being "ineffective" for 6 weeks.  Relying on others.

I know there is a part of me that is thinking, this will be good for me....but first it's going to be really tough.

Tofino Bound January 2017

Disclaimer:  I must've liked this trip a lot, I blogged it twice!

Not fully knowing what 2017 would bring for us, I decided to do a little planning and preparation.

For Christmas I got Kent, 11 dates in 2017.  Pre-planned, pre-purchased, pre-organized dates.

January's date was a weekend getaway to Tofino.  It's storm watching season, so I felt what better than to rip out of town for a couple days with our wellies and watch the stormy water and sky.  It might actually make us feel like we're in Scotland, because, let's face it, it's all about being in Scotland.

Sigh.  I just want to live in Scotland with a wee farm with my hubby.

Back to reality, Tofino.

We had a great weekend away, the Tin Wis in Tofino upgraded us, I guess there weren't that many people there that weekend.

We went to every beach, Radar Hill, we hiked, talked, played we had a rest-filled time away.

We travelled up on Saturday--forgoing the traffic on Friday night.  It made for an already relaxing start to the weekend.

Feet.In.The.Ocean.

We found this adorable couple and their leashed cats at Radar Hill.
He reminded me *very* much of Jordan S.

Love this, a tree growing from a fallen tree.
