May 11 - Edinburgh to Falkirk to Stirling to Edinburgh

On May 11 we got a rental car and drove out of Edinburgh.  We hit the road to go to Falkirk and Stirling.

We drove right past the Kelpies, we meant to stop but we kept on movin!  We'll be back!

We arrived in Stirling safe and sound.  Nicely navigated if I may say so myself!  The Wallace Monument on top of the next hill.

A real, live 11th Century door.

Another Unicorn--in tapestry.  This replica was partially made by a lady in British Columbia!

View from the top of Stirling Castle--of another cemetery...

The Wallace Monument.  Here's my beef--did William Wallace really want this kind of a huge Asherah Pole monument?  I kind of doubt it.

Captivated by the Wallace Monument....can't you just tell?

We missed this part when we were here last time...

Walls of the Castle, must be walked!

I. Love. This. Castle.

We left Stirling Castle to find some lunch and we found this along the way....

We went into a LIDL Grocer.  We picked up some lunch and dinner stuffs...Kent found a HUGE box of Weetabix, he was in heaven.

We then went over to the Wallace Monument, the wind had picked up.  We walked to the top of the hill and then started goofing off, just like our family would!

First stop Bathroom!  Where the aliens pee.

My heart.

Hey Look!  Stirling Castle!

The view of the valley.

Then, the inevitable happened.  The Horie's started climbing

It started getting so windy, Jonathan took off flying!

Kent and I tried to do a selfie, but we got photo bombed and it was darn windy!

We did eventually manage it!

 The Beautiful St. Andrews Cross

When we left Stirling we headed back toward Edinburgh to find the Kelpies and the Falkirk Wheel.  We found the Kelpies easily, they are 100' tall sculptures of horses:

They are beautiful!

Horses.  Bam.

When we were finished at the Kelpies, we went to find the Falkirk Wheel.  The wheel connects two canals.  The boat floats in the bottom and the wheel turns, lifting the boat and water to raise it to the top canal.  It's amazing!
