May 16th - The sick day.

We woke on May 16th to say good bye to York.  Shortly after having breakfast at our hotel, Kent had a little bit of a dizzy spell.

We got a taxi and went to the train station.  We thought, we'd grab coffee say good morning to Melissa and Jonathan who were taking a slightly later train than us.  They saw how sick Kent was and they suggested that they take some of the backpack weight that we had.

By the time we were making our way to our platform,  I was literally holding Kent up.  We got on our train and despite having purchased our "forward facing seats" 90 days ahead of time....(the moment they came available) we were in rear facing seats.

I can't sit backwards--and we found out really quickly that Kent couldn't either.

I went to find help to rearrange our seats, but we ended up just taking someone elses (on the advice of Virgin East Coast Trains).

So here is a shameless plug.  If you have to take a train in the UK, use Scotrail.  The trains were clean and we got the seats we booked.  Virgin East Coast bit the big one AND they were dirty!!

We were about 20 minutes into our trip, in our second forward facing seats when Kent asked to go to the bathroom, so he left.  He came back about another 20 minutes later having vomited 7 times.  I can honestly count on 1 hand how many times Kent has had to vomit in the 28.5 years that I have know him.

When he got back to the seat he was terribly sick looking.

By the time we arrived in London, Kent was *really* wobbly.  So, I was holding him up when we realized that he had left his underground card with Jon and Melissa in York.

It was at that time I received a message from Max to say that he missed his train to London.  Big. Bummer.  We had planned today for Kent and Max!

We stood in a line up to get a new card when we find Melissa and Jon!

We transferred the luggage around again and Kent and Melissa headed to our Airbnb flat and Jon and I headed to South Africa Road to get our football tickets.

So we split up, Kent to go lay down and try to get better with supervision by Melissa.  I was pretty sure that Jon wasn't super into football, but he is always a great sport.

At the football pitch I sold Max's ticket to an American and Jon waited outside for Melissa and Kent.

So, sitting by myself in the football game I was bummed.  Really bummed.  It was a very short time later a young lady sat beside me and I went into "Kim-the-mentor-of-teenaged-girls-mode" and I heard all about her life, family, boyfriend and even gave some advice....then Jon, Kent and Melissa came in.

Sweet.  The game was great.  I went out to find some food/drink just before the half time mark and found 2 hot dogs and 2 cokes for us to share.  I thought that Kent may want some food....and definitely Jon did.  It all came to 4 pound 10.  I was so shocked!  I handed over 5 pounds and told her to keep the change!

Later Melissa came down to get a coke, she checked the prices and it was 6 pounds/drink!  What a deal I got!!

Warm up for the Queens Park Rangers vs Newcastle

The Newcastle Section...Oh the noise!!

And the game begins!

 Exciting!

When the game ended the players wanted to come out to say Thanks--as this was the season ending game.  Exuberant fans rushed the field and we didn't see any players come out.

The security did their best to keep people back.

We met up with Max at our Airbnb flat, Jon and Melissa went for groceries while I tended to Kent.  What was looking like would be a failure of a day, turned out to be pretty great!  We just missed Max!
