We're on our way up!
We're half way up!
Beautiful, Gothic Cathedral
The view from the top!
Jonathan needed an unobstructed view.
(I did the same thing on the top of the Empire State Building!)
The view on the way down!
That's a very narrow staircase! And it's steep!!
See--narrow!
Graffiti!
I'm a big stain glass fan.
Next up was the Undercroft. It was amazing, the church was built up on a Roman military quarters. The history was fascinating and I found something to study once I finish the book I am currently reading! Constantine The Great (Roman Emperor) I have some big questions...
I didn't get any photos of the Undercroft, I was busy....
Then, we spent a lot of time in the actual church part: There is an amazing amount of light in this church!
The organ. Kent's favourite part of a Cathedral!
Beautiful.
Interesting part of the church. A Dragon. it's facing up towards the stain glass above. it's thought it was a pulley system--that could've had a weight attached to it. Kent thinks that there is a link to the stain glass above it. I think that's what he is going to research.
A new art installation: Took a photo to try and figure out what it says, haven't done that yet!
Fan of stain glass strikes again!
And again....
And again.
15 Kings:
The Chapter house, amazing acoustics and stained glass.
There are faces everywhere!
During the day we left the building so that we could each lunch and have some time with Melissa and Jon:
It wouldn't be a family trip without a run to a music store. I bought a tin whistle.
I've always wanted one.
Can't see it very well, but this is REALLY crooked!
Melissa and Kent in the Shambles:
Melissa and I stopped for cream tea. This, is a highlight of my trip.
A monument to a French Hero
I love York, almost as much as I love New York. I love all the Yorks!
Found a store for Kent!
Alrighty then!
This is one of the places we looked at stopping at for dinner last night in York, we didn't end up going in because we found a better place.
Found a Yorkshire Terrier in York, Yorkshire, UK!
Very cool back yard.
We found dinner here. This place was haunted, I was a little freaked out in the bathroom.....Not because it was haunted, but because people on the street can see straight into the toilets! (The windows were open....)
Melissa and Jon walked us over to some cute places then found:
The Fairfax House was closed, but next time.....
Found some cool artwork....
This was so uneven, so very cool.
I love an old church.
I love Tudor Style.
Oh and red brick!
We said goodbye to Jon and Melissa here and started walking back to our place. This area was a little sketchy. AND at 8 pm, everyone was drunk! Like falling down drunk! We ended up walking an hour and finally getting back to our place, we forgot one turn and made it a little longer than it needed to be.
