May 5th - Finstown, Orkney Island

We met for breakfast and our car arrived for our adventures around this beautiful, little Island.

We knew we were to check out by 11 and had completely planned to do that.  When the ladies at the front desk heard that we weren't leaving the area until 9:30 pm, they let us leave our things in one room and we used it to clean up before going to the MV Hamnavoe for the night.

We had made a plan to run around the Island--we had a number of things planned and we did it all!  Our first stop was Finstown.  We had done a little research about where there was a possibility that we might find some of Kent's family--we found that Margaret Horrie was placed in Finstown, so we went to see who else we might find.

We found free range beach chickens...

The family all entered in through an opening in the fence, but to me it looked all too new, when I looked around a stone fence, I found an opening to a much older part of the cemetery.  Through the gate and the first 3 headstones--were relatives.

More family, with our specific spelling of Horie

Then, there is the Harray's.

I found this one impossible not to pass.  I had buried work for the 3 weeks.  I hadn't even thought about work, I had thought about the people.

Max and Melissa..Jon is impossible to get in photos...I think he likes taking them rather than being in them.

A history Lesson
