Once we had reunited, eaten we headed over to Skara Brae, the oldest homestead on the Island, it's thought to be more than 5000 years old. We weren't allowed to take photos in some of the places we went next, but it sure got the "I could build a round stone home" juices flowing....
Skara Brae Replica for walking through
I got a photo of Jon!
The beach here is amazing, the sand is so soft. The rocks were paradise for our family!
Max collected Sand for us, which we put into Whiskey bottles. It's not a holiday without collecting sand and rocks.
Looking toward Skaill House, we didn't get a chance to go in.
The actual Skara Brae
This rocks. See what I did there?
When we finished up at Skara Brae we drove like crazy over to Maes Howe. There was no photography there. Melissa and I really wanted to go into a burial Cairn. This one was broken into by Vikings to avoid a winter storm. There is Viking graffiti inside, it's really amazing.
Friendly Vikings
No pillaging here...

Our tour guide
At this point, we had some dinner and then headed to the MV Hamnavoe. It was our ferry that we were going to use as a Bed and Breakfast. We would be leaving Stromness tomorrow at 0630 for Thurso.
